Don’t set yourself up to fail

If you are already one of our clients, you have probably heard me say this a million and one times.

Setting yourself up to fail is something many clients do when they push their dogs too hard, too fast. Forget the treats. Only bring the boring treats. Push for Just one more round of tricks with an already tired dog. Put your dog in a situation they can’t cope with. Not paying attention to your dogs anxiety signs. Expecting them to be able to cope without having given them to necessary tools. Etc, etc, etc.

We also do this as humans on an almost daily basis, and it hardly ever ends with a good outcome.

Taking just a few minutes to work out how you can help your dog and yourself succeed in any given situation will entirely change how we approach things. You will notice that “suddenly” your dogs behaviour has improved. Your stress levels have lowered. And things are clicking into place much easier.
